THE 100 PIECE CHALLENGE
#100PieceChallenge
The One Million Piece Project is built on a simple truth: real change happens when everyone participates. That’s why we created the 100 Piece Challenge—a call to action for individuals, families, teams, and entire neighborhoods to take ownership of their environment, one piece at a time.
The challenge is straightforward: step into your community and pick up 100 pieces of trash. It can be your block, a park, a school zone, or any space that needs attention. No group is too small, and no effort is insignificant. Once you’ve completed the challenge, we ask that you document your work by sending us a video. Your contribution will be counted toward our public goal of removing one million pieces of litter across Houston.

This initiative is about more than just numbers—it’s about visibility, accountability, and momentum. Every video submitted becomes part of a growing movement, showing that change is happening in real time and that people across the city are stepping up. We also encourage participants to turn the challenge into something bigger—something fun, competitive, and community-driven. The 100 Piece Challenge can easily become a game. Gather a group and divide into four teams. Set a timer or create a race: which team can collect 100 pieces first, or who can collect the most within a set time. What starts as a simple cleanup becomes an experience—one filled with energy, teamwork, and purpose.

By turning cleanup into a shared activity, we make it engaging and memorable. Families bond, teammates push each other, and communities come together around a common goal. What might feel like a chore becomes a challenge people actually want to participate in. But the heart of this movement is bigger than any one challenge. It will take more than one person, more than one group, and more than one day to reach one million pieces. It will take a city.

The 100 Piece Challenge is your invitation to be part of that effort. Whether you’re competing, volunteering, or simply doing your part quietly, you are contributing to something that matters—a cleaner, stronger, more unified Houston. This is how change starts. One piece. One challenge. One community at a time.
